GEO Business and SPAR 3D Expo: A tale of two events

Team GeoSLAM were out in force last week at events either side of the Atlantic. Close to home, London saw the return of the UK’s leading geospatial show, GEO Business. For the firth year running 3007 attendees from 56 countries around the world descended on the Business Design Centre in Islington for two jam packed days. With live demonstrations taking place throughout the event hosted by Application Engineer Joanna Setkowicz, the ZEB PANO was the star of the show, attracting a lot of attention from visitors to our stand. The ZEB PANO is an accessory to the ZEB REVO RT and allows users to capture and create real estate floorplans and interactive 360 panoramic photography, you can read all about it here.

It was great to catch up with friends old and new throughout the busy two days, including GeoSLAM UK dealers and those who made the trip from abroad. We had a lot of discussions about digital twin representations, which emerged as a  strong theme from the show. On Wednesday afternoon Neil Slatcher, Senior Research Engineer hosted a workshop on ‘The Evolving Use of SLAM Technology and the Widening Applications for Laser Scanning’, which was well attended.

While GEO Business began to wind down, other members of the team were just getting started at the SPAR 3D Expo & Conference in Anaheim, California. In the opening hour of the conference it seemed everybody in California had descended on our little patch of orange. As well as seeing the ZEB family and learning more about SLAM, visitors to the booth were in for another treat with a chance to win an Apple Watch if they were in possession of a winning GeoSLAM scratch card! It was great meeting everyone who came to the stand to claim their prizes.

The ZEB PANO was star of the show Stateside too, with lots of people interested in adding contextual imagery to floorplans. Those new to the ZEB Family were impressed by the flexibility offered by the range of solutions, with good conversations taking place around indoor and outdoor mapping for surveying and AEC. Del Stewart, GeoSLAM Channel Manager for the West Coast hosted regular live demonstrations of all the solutions to a rapt audience.
