As part of our ongoing commutment to nuture talent and work with local students in line with our CSR strategy, GeoSLAM have had a busy month visiting both Nottingham University and Nottingham Trent University to take part in careers fairs.
First was the Internships and Placement Fair at the University of Nottingham in their newly refurbished Student Union, the Portland Building.
HR Manager Rachael Handley and Global Marketing and Communications Executive Harriet Brewitt went along to the event to speak to potential interns and graduates of the future; giving them a flavour of SLAM technology as well as discussing life after university.
Rachael and Harriet were joined by James Whalley, alumnus of Univeristy of Nottingham; having gained a First Class MPhys in Theoretical Physics last year, James joined GeoSLAM as a Junior Software Engineer following a successful internship with us.

Despite the crowds, we managed to get away from the stand for five minutes and collect some data. The screenshot of the scan above consists of over 12 million points and took just five minutes to capture with a ZEB-REVO RT. The data was fully processed and ready to show to students straight away. It certainly drew some attention and we hope to have captured the interest of some future GeoSLAMers!
A few days later we headed over to Nottingham Trent University for their Property, Design and Construction Recruitment Fair. Channel Manager for UK and Ireland, Sven van Duffelen and Stuart Cadge, Global Marketing and Communications Executive were there to speak to students about a range of roles within the built environment sector. Our latest recruit James Thomas who is completing an apprenticeship in Customer Services, also joined the team for some hands on scanning experience.
The event took place in NTU's Grade II Listed Newton Building, so naturally we were very keen to capture such an impressive environment!

This scan took just under ten minutes and each screenshot consists of over 25 million points, with the glass roof looking particualrly impressive. The day was extremely well attended as you can see from the number of people who managed to get in our scans!
