Quick fire questions with one of GeoSLAM’s Senior Applications Engineers

Last Updated on 25th April 2022

Happy International Women’s Day!

We sat down (figuratively speaking) with one of our incredible Senior Application Engineers, Ivona Hubova, to discuss her amazing work with GeoSLAM, who she is inspired by and some additional fun questions. So grab a tea, sit back and enjoy learning all about just one of our amazing team here at GeoSLAM!

How did you come to work for GeoSLAM?

I remember there was a sales job being advertised which I applied for, as I thought it would be a really cool company to work for. Luckily, the CEO called me back and said there is also a technical role that might be better suited to my skills. I have been with GeoSLAM for almost 5 years now!

What is a Senior Applications Engineer and what does your day-to-day job look like?

This role transformed a lot during the Covid-19 pandemic. Before, application engineers were travelling and supporting our amazing dealer network and customers in different parts of the world. My role now includes working on the new software development in terms of workflows that are useful for our end users. We transform point clouds into valuable deliverables for different industries like Real Estate or Construction.

What do you enjoy most about your work?

Working with many GeoSLAM colleagues can be a pretty inspiring and fun experience that I enjoy on a daily basis. I am also grateful for being able to visit some amazing countries during my journey with GeoSLAM.

What is your biggest professional or personal achievement?

Being able to see our technology deployed by different companies and industries.

What/who inspires you the most?

My family and friends.

Describe your perfect day.

A perfect workday – that would have to be with our UAV crew, test flying and mapping with the ZEB Horizon

A bit of fun…If money didn’t exist, what job would you choose?

I would still most likely stay within Remote Sensing/ GIS field and keep mapping our world. This way we can better understand the surrounding environment but also more remote areas, see how they changed over time and predict what will happen next.

If you could be a superhero, which one would you be?

Any that has a flying skill really and does not misuse their power.

If you could bring back one iconic person from history to hang out with for the day, who would it be?

I would like to bring someone from many years ago, like Aristotle, see his expression and thoughts about the current world.
